Integrating Development

The Global Church is blessing others and demonstrating the good news of Jesus in an integrated way, and you can participate with them. You can assist Global Churches' and Global Partners in their goals, as defined by them, in developing disciple-making focus, and addressing their community development needs. All World Partners' opportunities, partnerships, and projects flow from this value.

As followers of Jesus, our work of Integral development is built on a calling to announce good news!

While we often think of this as the message of salvation, because it is the greatest gift of God’s love given freely to all, Jesus Himself proclaimed the good news of God’s Kingdom. This invites people on earth to experience new sight, and new life through faith in Jesus Christ, the King. Wherever the King is, you have the “Kingdom of God”. As the global community of Jesus’ followers, we respond to God’s call to participate in His mission around the world. We witness, and people respond, in word and deed, to the work of the Holy Spirit who convicts them of their need to be redeemed by Christ.

Similarly, development is not about projects, or “things that we do.” Development happens when a community mobilizes their resources to meet their needs, as defined by them. A community decides what must be done. Then, as they recognize the resources they already have, and as they see that God equips them to solve their own problems, the attitude of the community turns to hope. When they continue to repeat this process of seeing a need and connecting the resources. This is how poverty is broken.

We Are the Outsiders to a Community
We are challenged to answer the question,“what is our role”?

Is it to meet needs, or to provide resources?
Or to facilitate and mobilize people to identify their resources and their needs, and put them together?

What are the resources available to every community all over the world?

  • Natural

Natural resources, which God has put in creation.

  • Physical

Physical resources, which we make from natural resources.

  • Human

Human resources, which are the skills of each person in the community

  • Social

Social (society) resources, which are groups of people who work together to accomplish something ( i.e. Farmers’ Group)

  • Spiritual

Spiritual resources are wise elders or mentors, disciple-makers, churches, spiritual leaders, Scripture, and prayer.

  • Economic

    Economic resources are the markets.

  • Time

Time is the last resource, which is precious.

Resources can be wasted, can be well-used, and can be created.

Once a community begins to understand all the resources available to them, and that they can be created, they start to see how these can be used properly to meet their own needs. Progress occurs as people meet their own needs, own their own development, and look to outsiders merely to facilitate that learning.
