World Partners Prayer Calendar
We are all becoming aware of how the Global Mission landscape is changing. As the Lausanne Covenant reminds us, now is the time for “the whole Church to take the whole Gospel to the whole world.”
In the EMCC, we have a rich history of sending and supporting, leading, directing and giving. As the EMCC continues to discover how to participate in Jesus’ mission with the global church, we can learn from those who are modelling a life of listening, trusting and obeying the Spirit in serving alongside brothers and sisters from other cultures. We can also learn from our friends around the world and in our neighbourhoods--disciple-making leaders, who are sensitive to how the Spirit is directing them to serve those around them.
We can all take part in Jesus’ global mission. There are intercessors who continue to support these ministries and journeys with Jesus. Prayer fuels these ministries. We can travel along with global workers, global partners, and disciple-making leaders in their day-to-day activities by playing a supporting role through prayer. “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (Jam. 5:16b).
In the letter to the believers in Colossae, Paul wrote:
“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light” (Colossians 1:9-12).
Perhaps as you go through this calendar there will be some names you are not familiar with. If unsure how to pray, we can borrow from Paul praying into the spiritual care of these global workers, partners, and disciple-makers.
May they:
Know and discern God’s will in the everyday.
Gain spiritual wisdom and understanding.
Honor God with their day-to-day attitudes, behaviours, and character.
Seek to please God in everything.
Bear fruit in all areas of their lives.
Know God more intimately.
Be strengthened with God’s power.
Demonstrate perseverance and patience.
Be known for an attitude of thankfulness.
Thank you for your active prayer participation for these friends across the globe. It is because of you that these ministries continue to thrive and are part of a joint commitment, with expectation and hope, that we would all share the good news of Jesus’ salvation and new life throughout the world, in word and deed.
